Ready to stand out on social media? For this week’s #GoalChatLive, I gather some awesome social media friends to share their thoughts on the topic. Christian Karasiewicz’s specialty is live streaming, Samantha Kelly’s is Twitter, and Viveka von Rosen’s is LinkedIn. Between the three, all social media bases are covered.
About our guests:
- Christian Karasiewicz is a Live Stream Producer/Host, #SocialChatter & Launch Your Live, and Content Marketing Manager at StreamYard
- Samantha Kelly is a speaker, consultant, and founder of the Women’s Inspire Network, Program Director at Wedo
- Viveka von Rosen is a speaker, author, and Chief Visibility Officer & Co-Founder, Vengreso
The June #GoalChat theme is “Going for It!” To take action and stand out on social media, go back to basics, be kind and genuine, and be a resource for your community.
Standing Out on Social Media
- Samantha: Be kind and keep being the best at what you do
- Viveka: Your LinkedIn profile is not a resume, it’s a resource. Focus on what’s in it for your audience
- Christian: Know your audience and go where they hang out. Pick a platform you are good at, then, when you are ready, tack on another one and then another
Claim usernames on all social media. Here are tools to check availability: knowem.com and namechk.com
On Developing Community
- Christian: Start a broad group, based on your business interest or niche
- Viveka: Be the trusted SME (subject matter expert). Share what you know. Start conversations, and be sure to respond to replies
- Samantha: Engage. It’s always about how you make other people feel
- Viveka: There are no shortcuts on social media! Stop with the automation
- Samantha: Create Twitter lists, public and private. Follow #JournoRequest on Twitter. Retweet to amplify content and requests from others
- Christian: If someone asks you to be on a Livestream, if it fits, take that first step

Social Media Goals
- Viveka: Reach out to the people who reach out to you. Use FlyMsg to create responses for different types of interactions; it saves you time, enabling you to spend more time on quality conversations
- Christian: If you’ve never done live streaming, start. You can go live to a group or a dummy Facebook page. Practice makes better. If you do stream, look at your streaming analytics to see what you can improve with your show
- Samantha: Reach out and say Hi and tag @TweetingGoddess and say we met via @TheDEBMethod
Final Thoughts
- Samantha: Don’t take criticism from someone you’d never go to for advice
- Viveka: Remember to “People” every day. Interact with friends and peers, not just prospects and clients
- Christian: If you feel like you are doing too much, you probably are. Empty your plate and then start putting things back on it
