Lights Camera Action with Tiffany Byrd Harrison, Dylan Kenin & Louise Palanker

This week on #GoalChatLive we dove into the topic of Lights, Camera, Action with video producer and content creator Tiffany Byrd Harrison, actor Dylan Kenin, and co-host of Media Path Podcast Louise Palanker. As Louise said, “We all live under a microphone,” as opposed to a microscope. And while some people do control who sees what they put out in the world, that’s more exception than rule.

Tiffany, Dylan, and Louise shared what brought them center stage, as well as their thoughts on finding – and handling – the spotlight, being authentic, staying balanced, and more.

The Key to Authenticity

  • Louise: Take a portion of yourself and amplify it
  • Tiffany: In order to be great as a creator, you need to be a great person. So, be a great person! Build your character offline before you bring it online
  • Dylan: Discover what helps you feel fulfilled when the camera is off, like meditation.

How to Stay Balanced

  • Dylan: It’s a daily practice. Dishes are not below you; they are an opportunity to stay extremely present. There is something about investigating what makes you uncomfortable. It’s a reminder of what you have
  • Tiffany: People need to look at what they are taking in. If it’s garbage, get rid of it!
  • Louise: Disengage with content that is making you angry, upset; Take in enough to be informed

Goals

  • Dylan: Do 5 minutes of meditation; sit quietly and allow thoughts to come and go, breathe. “Audition” meditation and try to make it a daily practice
  • Louise: Work on things for at least 5 minutes every day (hobby, project, self improvement). Don’t trick yourself out of continuing/ Let yourself off of the “perfectionist” hook
  • Tiffany: Make a funny video and post it. Bonus: Fall on purpose to get a laugh

Final Thoughts

  • Louise: Focus 8x day on your posture. And also focus on kindness. Smile more and make more eye contact
  • Tiffany: Representation matters … but only if it’s quality representation
  • Dylan: Kindness and synchronicity. The more present I am, the more I see the universe lining up for me
