As part of the June theme of “Going for It,” on this week’s #GoalChatLive Debra Eckerling talks about turning ideas into action with Christopher Cherian (Gatherly.io), Melody Johnson (The Course Consultant), and Orly Zeewy (Ready, Launch, Brand). In a power-packed hour, Chris, Melody, and Orly share insights and tips for developing, launching, and sharing ideas. They also talk about why they love what they do, what stops people from starting, and more.
The First Step
- Melody: Analyze what’s going on
- Orly: Know what you are selling. Figure out your true north and who needs it
- Chris: Test your initial concept (MVP) and get feedback as quickly as possible
How to Develop and Track Ideas
- Chris: Whenever I encounter a problem that needs solving, it goes in the back of the notebook. When I have ideas on how to solve it, it gets a page in the notebook
- Orly: Don’t ask yes or no questions. If you ask the wrong question, the answer doesn’t matter
- Melody: Brainstorm and map out ideas. Try Click Up
- Orly: Get clear on what your mission accomplishes and then reverse engineer it
Tips for Sharing Your MVP (Minimal Viable Product)
- Chris: People want to be part of something bigger. Get them excited about your ideas/passion. Reach out to prospective clients from a non-sales perspective. Get in conversation, and let their ideas springboard
- Orly: Find your early adopters and create relationships. You want your ideas to be loved and shared, so they can grow. Give people a chance to be part of your story
- Melody: Identify that being uncomfortable is okay and then start having helpful conversations

Goals
- Melody: Grow your annual recurring revenue. Look at your goal, the revenue, and the retention rate. Identify any roadblocks and bust through them
- Orly: Watch Simon Sinek’s TED talk on Start with Why. Also, check out the Lean Business Model Canvas
- Chris: Write down the five people you need to meet. Put it on a sticky note somewhere you will look at every day until you do something about it
Final Thoughts
- Chris: Always compare what you think of as your worst-case scenario to what you are doing now. Go out and do it
- Melody: Find your diamonds! There are a lot of people where you are the solution to their problem
- Orly: Write down your story, get it down to a few sentences that encapsulate it, and try it out on people
