On this week’s #GoalChatLive, I discussed Health and Wellness with Chef Eric Meredith, Deborah Myers & Catherine Turley. Good physical and mental health are essential for living a productive, well-balanced life. And, like with other goals, you can’t necessarily reach your health goals on your own. You need guidance, resources, and support.
About our guests:
- Chef Eric Meredith is Chief Wellness Officer for Afro Vegan
- Deborah Myers, Deborah Myers Wellness, is a Certified Acupressurist and Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner
- Catherine Turley is the author of Superwoman Secrets Revealed and CEO of Fit Armadillo
According to the World Health Organization, health is not just the absence of illness, it’s “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being,” Eric shared.
Added Deborah, “Once our body knows how to be healthy, it can stay healthy.”
Our experts agree: Becoming healthy starts with a commitment to yourself. When you know the”Why” behind your desire for good health, then you can set health and wellness goals and make a plan.
Their Selfcare Practices
- Eric: Dancing, watching movies, drawing, working out, eating healthy
- Cat: Going for a run, watching the sunrise, coloring, reading
- Deborah: Energy work, meditating, gardening, walking, working out, spending time with family

Tips for Health and Wellness
- Eric: Diet can be an emotional thing. Start with a 3-day food record to see where you are at and how you need to adjust. In my opinion, the best recipes accommodate one’s dislikes and likes, culture, cooking abilities, time, beliefs, and accessibility. Check out http://EatingWell.com
- Cat: Make changes based on your circumstances. Remember, food is fuel
- Deborah: Use acupressure for balance and also for manifestation (see the link below). Find and spread joy whenever you can
Health and Wellness Goals
- Eric: Make a list of all the benefits of why you want to be healthy – playing with your kids, traveling.
- Deborah: Claim your me-time. Find the best way to be with yourself: meditation, conscious awareness. Your body does not like stuckedness. Help your body’s energy move.
- Cat: Fit in fitness into your life. Or take the Superwomen Challenge in her book.
- Bonus: Be good to you
