Gratitude with Brook Eddy, Jack Griffin & Beth Howard

We think about Gratitude a lot this time of year. Like goals, it is a year-round practice. This week’s #GoalChatLive is all about gratitude with Brook Eddy, founder of Bhakti Chai; Jack Griffin, founder of FoodFinder.us; and Beth Howard, pie baker and author of World Piece.

Brook, Jack, and Beth shared what inspired their gratitude journey – Brook, tea; Jack: illness; Beth, pie. They also talked about the connection between food and gratitude, tips for gratitude practice, gratitude goals, and more.

How to Start a Gratitude Practice

  • Brook: Walking meditation, find things that are beautiful in the moment
  • Jack: Thank people who normally don’t get thanked, ask questions. get to know them
  • Beth: Write and mail thank you notes, gift your time, gift something handmade

Gratitude Goals

  • Beth: People are lonely. Connect with someone on a personal level … you can make a pie, bring them a pie, or share a slice of pie.
  • Brook: Go outside – alone or with people – and spend time in nature. Give yourself 20 minutes and see how it makes you feel.
  • Jack: Call someone you haven’t spoken to in at least a year.

Final Thoughts

  • Jack: We all have a lot of things we take for granted; sometimes being grateful for the most simple things gives you perspective; you can be a force for good
  • Brook: Inspired by Jack, Brook is going to look into food pantries
  • Beth: Likes to buy gift cards for groceries to give to people in need
