For this week’s conversation on Branding Strategy, I am joined by Digital Marketing Consultant Rich Brooks, Flyte New Media and The Agents of Change; Brand Strategist Keshia Butler-Thomas, LCK Consulting Services, and Website and Graphics Designer Marcia Macomber, Cornucopia Creations. Knowing who you are and what you do is one thing; being able to illustrate to others is another.
Rich, Keshia, and Marcia share their brands, takes on branding, and expertise, as well as advice on brand strategy, anecdotes, and more. Rich’s Flyte New Media brand is about “working with small growing businesses that want to have fun while generating leads.” He also leans into being a company in Maine. Keshia’s company is “a luxury brand at an affordable price,” and Marcia’s Cornucopia Creations is “Bountiful ideas in modern marketing.”
What is Branding
- Rich: There’s personal and company branding. Your brand is the personality you put out in the world. It’s how people know you
- Keshia: Your business is what you do, your brand is how people feel about you
- Marcia: When your brand is great, it makes the sales for you
The Value of Strategy
- Marcia: Strategy has a magical ability to stretch out your success
- Keshia: The strategy is the roadmap
- Rich: Strategy is critical. Is the brand by design or by accident? You need to figure out who you want to be in the marketplace
The First Step for Branding/Rebranding
- Rich: Starts by taking his clients through his remarkability framework. What makes you different? What do you stand for?
- Marcia: Go through SWOT: Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats
- Keshia: Start by asking two questions: Who are you? Why do you get out of bed?

Also, check out the GoalChatLive conversation in the Twitter Moments Recap.
Goals
- Rich: Interview 5-10 clients and ask why they chose you. Dive deep. It’s a great indicator moving forward
- Keshia: Give yourself permission to experiment
- Marcia: Revisit the SWOT analysis; spend a 1/2 hour with yourself, unedited, to evaluate your own take
Final Thoughts
- Marcia: You will always win when you extend kindness
- Keshia: This conversation has three different expert perspectives; appreciate the differences. Whenever you are looking to hire, do the research to find the right fit
- Rich: Everyone has a brand. Did it happen by accident or by design? And, if it happened by accident, figure out how you can turn it into a well-designed brand
