This week on #GoalChatLive, we continued the #DEBcember inspiration, talking about your Mission, Motto, and Theme Song. My guests: Reginald Ferguson, founder of New York Fashion Geek; Ilene Marcus, CEO of Aligned Workplace; and Viveka von Rosen, founder of Beyond the Dream Board. When you get a running start into the new year, it really helps you make the most of it.
The panel shared their backstories, as well as their missions and mottos, and what keeps them going. Reg, Ilene, and Viv also offered insights for breaking through blocks, claiming the life you want, and more.
Missions/Mottos
- Reg: To take men from fashion confused to fashion confident
- Ilene: To help people feng shui their emotions to manage themselves
- Viv: Women’s words change the world
Theme Songs
- Ilene: “Eye of the Tiger” to get pumped up; “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers for introspection
- Viv: “A Little Less Conversation” by Elvis Presley is a reminder to take action
- Reg: “Don’t Give Up” by Peter Gabriel featuring Kate Bush for inspiration and “Lord Help Me” by the late Donny Hathaway when exasperated
Mission, Motto & Theme Song #GoalChatLive
Goals
- Viv: Find a stretch goal for the new year: jumping off a mountain, monetary, personal. Make a commitment to yourself to do the thing that you know is holding you back
- Ilene: Teach something new every day
- Reg: Look in your closet and honestly make an assessment. If you have clothes you will no longer wear, give them to the less fortunate
- Reg Bonus Goal: If you could just take the time to give a rating and review for The DEB Show, that would be the number one thing I’m sure would be on her holiday list. (Thanks, Reg)
Final Thoughts
- Reg: It’s the holiday season and obviously often people in January have resolutions. Resolve to be the best version of yourself
- Ilene: Take responsibility for your life and the relationships you want. No one else is going to do it for you. You do matter. You have a noble purpose. And remember, your actions matter. So don’t let your reactions speak louder than your actions
- Viv: Delegation is so important for those of us who are solo and entrepreneurs. Do what you do best, let other people do the rest
