We wrapped up the November theme of getting set for the new year by talking about Career Change. Career counselor and coach Markell Morris, Futures in Motion – a #GoalChat regular – joined me for #GoalChatLive!
People leave – or seek to change – jobs or careers for various reasons. Markell and I agree that knowing what you want – that all important vision and mission – is a key step before starting along a new journey. Markell has worked in the career-space through different positions, situations, and life changes, over many years, which makes her an ideal guide for those looking to take that first step. She shared her story, along with resources and tips, for those looking to make a change. Markell says, “Change is a process. Cut yourself some slack!”
There was also a lot of great information on Sunday’s community #GoalChat. Read the Twitter Moments Recap.

Bonus Goal: Career Change
- Take a brave step, even when you don’t feel so brave.
- A brave step could be anything from reaching out to someone for help and/or asking about their career; following and interacting with someone whose career you admire, picking up a book, reading an article, or doing an assessment, such as The Skill Scan, Meyers-Briggs, Strong Interests, or Clifton Strengths.
