Empowerment with Carrie Murray & Dayna Steele

We kicked off Women’s History Month with a conversation on Empowerment with Carrie Murray, host of Carrie On!, and Dayna Steele, Entrepreneur and Activist. We had a special appearance by Viveka von Rosen at the start, but technical difficulties kept her from most of GoalChat. This panel was all about embracing community empowering people – women especially – to step-into and elevate their lives.

Dayna and Carrie talked about their empowerment Aha moments, their acronyms, and their specialties – Dayna creates rockstars, Carrie amplifies voices. They also shared thoughts on self-care, boundaries, and the importance of money for empowerment.

Define Empowerment

  • Dayna: Giving yourself permission
  • Carrie: It comes from a collective; empowering the people around you – especially the ones who do not look like you

How to Tap into Your Power

  • Carrie: Start by grounding yourself. What do you want to do? What do you want to solve? You need purpose to be powerful. Then create boundaries
  • Dayna: Me-time. Structure. It’s essential to figure out what works for you.

Goals

  • Dayna: “Well-behaved women rarely make history.” Take a chance on something.
  • Carrie: Education. Watch “Show her the money.” Consume art!
  • Deb: Tap into what brings your joy … find a project, work on it and think about it it often … especially when you need that burst of positive energy

Final Thoughts

  • Carrie: Do something that scares you and reflect on it
  • Dayna: There’s no such thing as failure
