Creative Endeavors with Ella Glasgow, Jessica Kupferman & Chari Pere

While many use creativity in different aspects of their work, prioritizing creative endeavors is another conversation entirely. This week on GoalChat, we had that conversation with Ella Glasgow, Jessica Kupferman, and Chari Pere. Ella Glasgow is founder of Beyond Virtual Events, Jessica Kupferman is co-founder of She Podcasts, and Chari Pere is a cartoonist and illustrator.

All have creative endeavors within and beyond their primary business. The three shared tips for getting started with events (Ella), podcasting (Jessica), and drawing (Chari), along with tips for focusing on, making progress, and prioritizing creative endeavors.

Defining Creative Endeavors

  • Jessica: Something new and original that comes from you
  • Chari: The itch you have to do something, to use your voice
  • Ella: There’s an element of creativity in all that we do; sometimes it’s hard to see how to execute something you have not done before

How to Get Started

  • Chari: With drawing – Take classes online; write down ideas/the visual script (few words that build upon the art). Every time you put pen to paper, you grow more
  • Jessica: With podcasting – A podcast can be many different things; we are all multifaceted, so find a way to sound/be unique; have the courage to go all in
  • Ella: With virtual events – Before you start planning, think about your ideal outcome

Goals

  • Chari: Step outside your box. Do something different to get your creativity going. For instance, make your own comic
  • Ella: If you are thinking about doing a virtual event, write down what you want to have happen; magic happens when you get your ideas out of your head and onto the page
  • Jessica: Look up what other people are doing in whatever genre you are looking into, and write what you do not like about it

Final Thoughts

  • Jessica: If you feel you are stifling your own creativity, remember life is to be enjoyed!
  • Chari: Being creative is all about having fun and whatever that means. Go with the flow and see where the opportunities lead
  • Ella: Give yourself grace. Sometimes it’s hard to be ourselves because we were someone else for so long. Give yourself the opportunity to find the things that you like
