Creative Careers with Samantha Ferraro, Ella Glasgow & Jennifer Wilkov

This week on #GoalChatLive, Samantha Ferraro, Ella Glasgow, and Jennifer Wilkov joined me to talk about Creative Careers. Samantha is founder of The Little Ferraro Kitchen and author, The Weeknight Mediterranean Cookbook; Ella is director of funability at Beyond Virtual Events; and Jennifer is an award-winning author, podcast host/coach at Your Book is Your Hook.
The trio talked about why the topic had meaning for them, as well as tips for igniting creativity, getting unstuck, and more. We also had several fun food tangents and a surprise – adorable – cameo.

Creativity & Careers

  • Ella: Every career is creative. Anything that made a difference happened because someone was creative
  • Jennifer: Even in careers that aren’t considered creative, there’s a focus on creating, whether it’s stories, presentations, art
  • Samantha: Creativity means getting your hands dirty, getting the wheels turning. using all the senses. It’s getting someone excited about what you create

How to Tap Into Creativity

  • Jennifer: Meditate, do something different creatively, take art classes. Surround yourself with inspiration
  • Ella: Discover what’s fun for you; roller skating, hula hooping. Get your body moving to get those creative juices flowing
  • Samantha: Step away from the routine. Do something different. Go outside, do some gardening, kickboxing

Goals from our Guests

  • Jennifer: Set a timer for 5 minutes and write whatever comes into your head.
  • Ella: Do one hard thing, the scary thing. For Ella, it’s posting her TEDx talk.
  • Samantha: Do the thing that’s been in the back of your mind for so long, tell someone you are going to do it, and then do it.
  • Samantha’s Food Goal: Go to the farmer’s market or grocery store, buy a produce item you never tried before, and make a recipe with it.

Final Thoughts

  • Jennifer: Tap into your inner child and let it lead you to your creativity
  • Sam: Go outside; get out of our comfort zone
  • Ella: Remember, you are an adult who wants to have fun, so have fun!
