In any business, you want to stand out. On this week’s GoalChatLive, I had a thoughtful conversation on doing Business Out of the Box with Jim Cermak, Trade Show University; Caitlin Penny, Copper Theory Creative; and Tabitha Scott, Epic Pivot.

Authenticity, originality, grace, compassion, and creativity are all necessary for a successful business in this day and age. Jim, Caitlin, and Tabitha shared their takes on business, marketing, biz dev, and more from an out-of-the-box perspective. Plus they shared tons of tips and goals, designed to help people find their way toward a business that they love, whether it’s your company, a side hustle, or a passion project.

What Business Out of the Box Means

• Jim: Doing something different in a good way
• Caitlin: Know you are making a difference. Being authentic and working on things that matter to you
• Tabitha: Different cultures see things in different ways. In other cultures you want to fit in. Here, you want to stand out

How to Deal with Roadblocks

• Caitlin: Find a coach or mentor, or do research and find a business to model. Ask for help
• Tabitha: Map your team on the growth curve to make sure everyone is in the right position for success
• Jim: Mix things up. Get out of the environment, do things differently

Goals

• Tabitha: Be aware of what you are doing when you are happy and lose track of time. Write it down. Then find ways to do more of it in your business
• Caitlin: Write a list of 50 things you love to talk. Use these topics to create fresh and unique content  for your social media channels
• Jim: Come up with 100 reasons why people should do business with you
• Jim: Reach out to some of your top customers, get some one on one time, and ask them questions about your business

Final Thoughts

• Tabitha: Be yourself and find things that light you up
• Caitlin: Go find your It thing!
• Jim: Ask those questions no one else is asking
