We had such an interesting and informative chat on AI and productivity on GoalChat with Anika Jackson, Stan Robinson, and Jason Van Orden. Anika is founder of Your Brand Amplified, Stan is chief coaching officer at Social Sales Link, and Jason is an AI strategist. AI requires critical thinking, navigating the tools available, and utilizing what works best for your needs and goals.
The panel discussed why they love AI – Anika: first step in any project; Stan: education; and Jason: it’s an equalizer – and ways to use it. They also gave their takes on where AI has been and where it’s going.
Getting Started
- Anika: Choose an AI tool/app you love – Anika uses Claude – personalize it, and set up projects
- Jason: Think of AI as a needle in a haystack, next to a bunch of other haystacks. It will not read your mind – you need to give it context and instructions
- Stan: Realize AI tech will impact us all; think about how you can leverage the technology, become familiar enough with it to know what it can and can’t do
AI and Productivity
- Stan: Use it for research, learning, and role play; if you need to have a difficult conversation or are about to be interviewed, use AI as a test-run
- Jason: For those with ADHD, AI helps you use cognitive energy wisely. When you get ideas out of your head, it can find the threads/organize ideas, prioritize based on your criteria, and turn it into action
- Anika: Try the meeting notes function (it also gives action items) and email templates (fixer ai); research (AI can teach you how to use AI); and custom chats

Goals
- Stan: Try NotebookLm from Google; you feed it information and it can give you the Cliff’s notes version in text, podcast, or video form
- Anika: Play with AI’s capabilities: write a song on Suno, go to Sora and create a video, create a digital clone
- Jason: Go for a walk and spend a 1/2 hour talking into your notes or AI app. Tell it what’s on your mind, give it context, and ask AI to organize it for you
Final Thoughts
- Stan: Try AI tools with an open mind
- Jason: There’s a lot of good that can come from AI. Learn to use it well
- Anika: Some AI tools can be used to delegate tasks that would otherwise take your time and energy; then, you can use that found time in more human ways
