Persona with Bobbie Carlton, Nina Fountain & Cheryl Tan

To help you prepare for #NewYearNewYou, on this week’s GoalChat we explored Persona with Bobbie Carlton, founder of Innovation Women; executive stylist Nina Fountain; and media strategist Cheryl Tan. The trio offered their takes on the external sides of persona from the perspectives of speaking, style, and media, and the internal work needed to identify and project your aspirations to the world.

Bobbie, Nina, and Cheryl also discussed the value of personas, some of the challenges women speakers face, how to balance TMI (too much information) with authenticity, and more. Happy DEBcember!

What is Persona?

  • Cheryl: Who you are and what you choose to share
  • Bobbie: Who you are as a reflection of your target audience; embodying who they want to be
  • Nina: An alignment between your style and goals; how you want to be seen

To Be in Alignment with Your Persona

  • Nina: Get clear on your personality and what you bring out into the world
  • Cheryl: Match your message with your role and objectives
  • Bobbie: Curate and showcase authentic aspects of yourself

Goals

  • Nina: Figure out your core personality/strengths/uniqueness, and your style persona
  • Cheryl: Get on camera. Do a 5-day video challenge; 30 seconds a day

Final Thoughts

  • Nina: Let style be liberating
  • Bobbie: Get comfortable with yourself and speaking
  • Cheryl: Knowing your persona helps you create connections
