Leadership with Marisa Wheeling Ciesluk, Monique Daigneault & Jess Dewell

This week on GoalChat, I talked about Leadership with Marisa Wheeling Ciesluk, MWC Leadership; Monique Daigneault, MD Consulting; and Jess Dewell, Managing Partner, Operations + Strategy, Red Direction. The panel shared their thoughts on what leadership is, qualities of good and bad leaders, ways to develop leadership skills, and more.

As Marisa said, leadership is not a title, it’s an action. And the skills of leadership are applicable no matter what your role or business.

What is Leadership?

  • Jess: Making decisions, whether they starts with your heart, gut, or brain
  • Monique: Being a healthy example
  • Marissa: A process of radical self-inquiry

What Makes a Good Leader

  • Marisa: Someone who has taken the time to spend in reflection
  • Jess: Clear communication
  • Monique: Empathy with boundaries

Leadership #GoalChatLive

Goals

  • Jess: Take 10 days – 2 5-day weeks – and pick something to notice about yourself/what challenges are you facing; find the patterns and see what solutions you can try to create a different outcome
  • Monique: Share a gap that you have with someone that you trust; it brings awareness and helps you figure out how to improve it
  • Marisa: Develop a pause practice. Create time for rest, even if it’s only for a few minutes a day

Final Thoughts

  • Monique: This conversation has been the definition of a supportive environment. Find your support system
  • Marisa: Leadership is a human experience
  • Jess: It’s risky to do these things – leadership and self reflection takes courage and boldness – it’s time to normalize these conversations
