The Power of Substack with Jim Fuhs & Bob Woods

Another fabulous conversation about Substack on this week’s GoalChat. Jim Fuhs, Fuhsion Marketing, and Bob Woods, CMO, Social Sales Link, once again joined me to dive in to the power of the platform, which continues to grow in popularity and functionality.

Substack is like a social media platform and website with blog all in one, and something you can use in concert with other strategies like LinkedIn, podcasting, and live video. Notes are like “old Twitter,” also giving you the ability to share others’ content and interact. Publications enable you to display your thought leadership/expertise/enthusiasm for other areas of your life.

What is the Power of Substack?

  • Bob: Discoverability
  • Jim: Less noise, more conversation

Getting Started

  • Bob: Determine your lane; there are 31 categories on Substack
  • Jim: When you build your profile, start with your banner and description
  • Jim: Start by engaging in the notes
  • Bob: Read other people

Goals

  • Bob: Spend time on the platform and write notes; interact and reply
  • Jim: Create and upload a vertical video as notes; after you read a good article, clip a highlight, and share it

Final Thoughts

  • Bob: Just start doing it. But don’t overdo it
  • Jim: Quality over quantity
