Happy New Year 2023 with Doug Bennett, Fallon Cryer & Troy Sandidge

Happy New Year! This week, I celebrated the start of 2023 with entrepreneurs and podcasters Doug Bennett, “Goals DO Come True;” Fallon Cryer, “Break it to Make It,” and Troy Sandidge, Strategy Hackers®. The conversation emphasized being kind to yourself – and others, while being realistic as you embark on this year’s goal journey.

Doug, Fallon, and Troy shared their wins and challenges from 2022, their personal and professional goals for 2023, inspiration, tips, and more.

Thoughts on Goals and Resolutions

  • Troy: Too many times people call things goals that are really dreams. When you plan a goal, make sure it’s real, and then put infrastructure in place.
  • Doug: Set 10 goals max: some big goals and some easy goals.
  • Fallon: Resolutions are scary; goals are beautiful.

Our Guests’ Goals for 2023

  • Fallon: Personal: Drink more water. Professional: Try and help as many people as possible; at least 1 a week/52 this year.
  • Doug: Personal: Drink more water, go alcohol-free in January. Professional: Get goal mojo back.
  • Troy: Personal: More movement, more momentum, more impact. Professional: 10 clients max for the year.

Goals from Our Guests

  • Troy: Define the scope of your goals, be honest, and be real – what can you do? what will you do? Then, execute!
  • Doug: Turn up on time; that means 10 minutes early. Say please, thank you, and show respect! That creates trust!
  • Fallon: Ask the first person you see every day how they are; look them in the eye and care about what they say. That’s how you develop relationships.
  • Deb: Keep a daily win list in a dedicated notebook or Google doc. Then, when you need encouragement, you can read through your wins and give yourself a pep talk.

Final Thoughts

  • Doug: Anybody can do anything, you just have to decide that you want to do it!
  • Fallon: You matter … as you are
  • Troy: A resolution is a statement of what you want to change. A goal is a statement of what you want to achieve.
