Performance with KaZ Akers, Leslie LaPage & Eli Schiff

We discussed performance with KaZ Akers, Leslie LaPage, and Eli Schiff on this week’s GoalChat. KaZ is a singer, dancer, actor, choreographer, stunt person, etc.; Leslie is host of the Best in Fest Podcast and founder of the LA Femme International Film Festival; and Eli Schiff is an actor/voice over actor.

While my panelists come from an entertainment background – and we had plenty of fun, acting-related tangents – the ability to perform/present yourself, ideas, etc. is relevant in every profession and industry. KaZ, Leslie, and Eli shared various experiences, ideas of how to tap into your authenticity, and more.

Why Performance is Important

  • Leslie: Better to be engaging than boring
  • Eli: You change the way you say things based on your audience
  • Kaz: Authenticity; you bring a version of who you think you are to every situation

How to Make Your Performance Stand Out

  • Kaz: Don’t try too hard
  • Eli: Your words need to come from a real place, tab into your motivation
  • Leslie: Take chances; do random, real, natural things

Performance #GoalChatLive

Goals

  • Kaz: Take an acting or improv class for fun
  • Eli: Try to listen more, pay attention to the dynamic between people
  • Leslie: Write a letter to your biggest naysayer and tell them to take a hike; then, burn the letter, release them

Final Thoughts

  • Leslie: Every “no” you get brings you one step closer to “yes”
  • Eli: Don’t forget to have fun
  • Kaz: Be your multi-everything self
