Finding Your Voice with Bobbie Carlton, Lauren Conaway, and Katti Power

What does finding your voice mean? You can think of it figuratively or literally. On this week’s #GoalChatLive Bobbie Carlton, Lauren Conaway, Katti Power, and I dive into all aspects of finding, maintaining, and amplifying your voice. In so many ways it’s the foundation for all you do.

Bobbie, Lauren, and Katti discussed ways they share their voice and support others. There were nods to community-building, self-care, purple pompoms, and baby goats.

About our guests:

  • Bobbie Carlton is founder of Innovation Women, Innovation Nights, and Carlton PR & Marketing; a speaker; and publisher/EIC of Lioness Magazine
  • Lauren Conaway is founder and CEO of InnovateHER KC and co-host of the Startup Hustle Podcast
  • Katti Power is a vocal health expert, voice and performance coach, and author

On Amplifying Your Voice

  • Lauren: Find ways to reach out to different communities
  • Bobbie: Be intentional in how you build a conversation
  • Katti: Start with your identity. When you know who you are, you can better amplify your voice

Goals from our Guests

  • Bobbie: Say YES to public speaking! And do the work to get there. Start small, take little steps, figure it out. For instance, asking a question from the audience is a great first step – introduce yourself and add something to the conversation
  • Katti: If you use your voice in a larger capacity than conversations, prioritize taking better care of your voice. Remember, foundation (breathing properly and supporting your sound), placement (placing your sound where it needs to be placed, being intentional), and shape (the certain shape of your mouth for sound)
  • Lauren: Do a self-inventory. Know thyself. What makes you unique? Are the things you are saying matching up with your beliefs? Think about who you are and what that means for your literal and figurative voice.

Final Thought

  • Bobbie: Tell your friends about Innovation Women
  • Lauren: Embrace discomfort. Learn!
  • Katti: Trust yourself more than you trust the noise
